In 2010, an informal group of early innovators and developers of postgraduate nurse practitioner residency programs began sharing best practices in running residency programs. In 2015, the group formally incorporated into the National Nurse Practitioner Residency and Fellowship Training Consortium. In February 2022, the Consortium was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as an accrediting agency.
