Connecticut’s largest COVID-19 vaccine provider, Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), administered its 500,000th dose of life-saving COVID-19 vaccine at its Connecticut Pediatrics @ CHC clinic at 76 New Britain Ave, Hartford. To celebrate the milestone, CHC presented CREC student Michael “Mikey” Vargas-Nazario with a $1,000 scholarship through the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET).
“I’m feeling good and wanted to get it to protect others and myself and my family,” said Mikey, a seventh-grader at CREC’s Two Rivers Magnet Middle School. “We didn’t get to do science hands-on activities, but now that I got the vaccine, I probably can.”
With all people 12 years and over now eligible for vaccination, CHC encourages young people, whose lives and those of their families have been profoundly impacted by the pandemic, to get vaccinated so they can look forward to a safer summer and healthier future.
“While we’re proud of this 500,000th dose, the reality is, whether you gave one dose or 10,000 doses or 500,000 doses, every one of those mattered to the people of the state of Connecticut,” said Mark Masselli, CHC Founder/CEO. “That is why Connecticut leads across the country in terms of the work that it is done in making sure that everyone is vaccinated.”
CHC has mass vaccination sites and mobile clinics located throughout the state. Parental consent is required for those aged 12-17. For a full list of locations and hours, as well as consent forms for minors, visit https://www.chc1.com/covid-19-vaccine/.
